International Shipbuilding Industry Fair in Vigo

Marina Meridional is pleased to announce that it will be present at Navalia, the first international naval fair in Spain, from May 21 to 23, at stand E10 where we will present our naval project and the capabilities of our shipyards in Vigo, Huelva and Ceuta, both in New Constructions as in Ship Repairs. About us

Specialized in construction, maintenance, repair and transformation of ships and boats

The company is part of the Grupo Meridional Holding. It is currently immersed in a heavy investment program, mainly in the group’s naval division. During 2020 the company acquired 2 shipyards in Spain (Huelva and Vigo), which are added to the other two already existing in the group (Ceuta and Turkey).

Meridional

The history of the Meridional Group dates back to its naval origins, beginning its activity as the owner of the Marítima del Musel shipyard in Gijón and Marítima de Axpe in Bilbao.

The company decided to focus its business on real estate, with the creation of Montebalito in 1972. From then until now, the Group has been growing and diversifying its activities in different sectors (financial, naval, tourism and renewable energies), both in Spain and internationally, but always linked to the naval sector.

The aim of our shipyards is the delivery of new build turnkey projects adapting the design to the client needs. We provide our services to both commercial vessels (fishing boat, tug boats, pontoons, ferries, tankers, general cargos, containers,…) and private vessels, offering maintenance, repairs or conversions of high quality.

New Building

Our advanced technology, in continuous evolution, allows us, on the one hand, to adapt to the diverse requests of our clients and, on the other hand, to specialize in constructions with high added value: fishing vessels, DP2 & DP3 offshore vessels, 3D seismic vessels, tankers for the transport of chemical products, ferries, metal substructures, in addition to offering customized solutions in our piping division.

Blocks construction

The most modern technologies are used for the steel block construction: latest generation 3D CAD aided design, numerical control cutting system, automatic flat panel line, automatic welding and laser dimensional control

Building process on slipway

By means of dimensional control during the preliminary stages , block construction is carried out without surplus steel.
This allows for maximum agility in the slipway, eliminating rework and achieving optimal hull development. The slipway is fitted with two 125 ltc cranes, which allow us to build blocks of up to 200 t. We therefore managed to reduce the number of blocks to be built and consequently the number of block unions in the slipway

Launching

We use the launching system both on launching trolleys , as well as the traditional launching on inclined slipways, with launching ways and fore and after poppets on run and panting region . In order to avoid fatigue of the structure at the time of launching, an exhaustive study of the distribution of weights in the ship is carried out. Also controlling the ship’s salute once it leaves contact with the slipway

Trials

It is time to verify that all the work has been carried out correctly, and to show that the boat is going to fulfill its objective of navigating autonomously. Each and every one of the services and equipment installed on board is tested, to be sure that at the time of sea trials, everything is operational and coordinated.

The energy division offers to our clients the survey and reconditioning air quality program AMP (alternative maritime power) of their vessels so a highest saving on the energy used by their equipment and propulsion systems can be achieved using alternative energies and reducing the consumption of solid fuels
